Fienden

The small Swedish brand Fienden, known for their tees with "unusual" prints, released their first pair of jeans yesterday and of course I went to check them out.
They're made from ~13.5 oz black selvedge denim, in a cut that resembles Julian Red's Detroit, except the rise is lower, or Samurai's S5000, except these taper from the knee down.
They actually look a lot like my S5000BKs - the silhouette, the fitted seat and the tone of the cow leather patch. Ironically, this is also something that could keep me from buying them, as I can't afford/justify buying a pair of jeans that looks so much like the ones I already have.

The only thing I didn't like about these jeans was the wide hem, but you could always have it redone to a smaller width. You shouldn't let this small detail turn you away from them though, as these are some of the nicest black jeans available in Sweden, and definitely the coolest.

I'm not yet sure which stores will carry these jeans, but the usual stockists in Stockholm are Weekday, Boutiqe Sportif and Tjallamalla. International orders, www.fienden.se

I just purchased a new pair of Levi's 501 shink-to-fit jeans and was wondering how you would approach the process of breaking in a new pair of jeans. What is your process on how to care for them? I really like the new dark indigo color of the rigid denim, and find theat the way you break in your jeans to be quite nice. I've been reading your blog and share your enthusiasm for denim. Would you mind sharing your tips with me?

Thank you,

hi, sorry for the late reply, didn't see your comment!

First I want to ask you, are your jeans regular STF Levi's or from Levi's Vintage Clothing collection?
The difference in quality is great. If it's the former, throw them away and buy something else.

For STF jeans in general I suggest you give them a hot soak to shrink them down to the right size and then just wear them. Try to wash as seldom as possible, a handwash every now and then wont hurt though. Just make sure you get a lot wear into them between washes.
